Oscars 2011 Red Carpet Wrap Up

So last night was the night of all nights for Hollywood...the Ocsars! Gone are the recession proof looks from celebrities aiming to look like "one of us",last night was a night full of Fierce Glam! Honestly I was blown away as I watched the stars make there way down the red carpet. Most of them owned it rocking looks fresh off the runway with all the confidence in the world. Others flopped but lets focus on the positives here! My heart skipped a beat when the oh so beautiful Halle Berry hit the screen in a FAB Marchesa gown that was in a nude color with heavy beading,in a mermaid style with heavy tulle at the bottom that gave the look so much volume and definition. Another stunner last night was Jennifer Hudson who continues to wow us with the new body. Last night she wore one of the stand out colors of the night red. Rocking a plunging neck line Versace piece, she turned heads and gave us all something to shoot for.
Another star for best dressed was Hilary Swank in Gucci. She rocked a shimmery look that lead down to a full feathered bottom. Other winners of the night were Scarlett Johansson, who is newly single,as well as Cate Blanchett in Givenchy(GORG), Kelly Osborne and Kim K.,as well as the beautifully seasoned Helen Mirren. I can only hope I age that well,I mean her body is killing!!! The host of the night Anne Hathaway gave us a reason to watch the whole show by changing dresses literally like 10 times! Her red Valentino red carpet look was to die for! I love love Anne Hathaway. Check out her and my winners in fashion from last night. Enjoy!!

Black History Month Spotlight: Barack Obama

With today being Presidents Day and at the same time its Black History Month, this spotlight was super easy! Barack Obama is not only the first black president,he has made history for being the finest president since JFK! He has an unspoken swag that melts the hearts of women around the world, and scares those who oppose him. I love it! Even though the weight of the world is on his shoulders,he manages to look calm, cool, and collective at the same time. Although most of the time, keeping his look uniform and professional with a solid color suit,he manages to always look like a million bucks. I don't know if its me but he looks like he smells sooo good too! In all honesty, what he has done in terms of Black History and the way he has managed an unspeakable task is the real reason we love him so. I love the fact that as we celebrate Black History, I will be able to look back and say I was alive when this great man changed the way we look politics and also what is possible to achieve forever. Now that is seriously FIERCE!

Shoe of the Day

Queen Bey hit up Los Angeles to enjoy the festivities next to her man Hov as most of Hollywood did. Although a bunch of Negative Nancy blogs have been reporting that the couple is having problems with no real proof, they looked strong last night! And if you don't believe me,check out her shoe game. She kept her look pretty toned down with a coffee colored silk blouse and skinny jeans. But if you keep going down, that's where the magic happens in the way of a heavily bedazzled Daffodile Louboutin heel that was every bit of 6 inches with about a two and a half inch platform. Although a shoe this tall would give the average woman a nose bleed, she pulls it off effortlessly! JavaFierce Approved!

Look of Day

This past weekend was All-Star weekend over in La La Land and all the celebrities landed there to pose for cameras, and enjoy for the festivities. My girl Rihanna on the other hand was there multi-tasking by promoting her new fragrance as well as performing during half time and oh, it was her birthday too! Busy busy busy! Although her halftime look was questionable, there was no denying her Fierceness as she hit the Macy's red carpet looking stupid, dumb fresh in this Prada get up. This girl stylist has a way of always making heads turn but accentuating her assets. Rihanna has legs for days and she made them look even longer by adding a nude patent pump with it. The metallic, cropped top with exposed midriff adds just enough sexiness to accompany the floral, ladylike A-line skirt.Jewelry is kept minimum with just a simple hoop and bracelet. This girl never lets me down and she has reigned as my Look of the Day more than anyone else for a reason.

Black History Month Spotlight Lady O.

In continuing with my Black History Month celebration, this one was a no brainer for a spotlight. Michelle Obama has not only made history for being the first black women as the first lady of the Free World but also a fashion icon. Not since Jackie O have we seen such glamour, flair, fierceness and down right goregoeusness. Mrs. O serves as an inspiration everywhere on how to make a statement in both her charity work as well as her fashion choices.
She gained much recognition while Barack Obama was on the campaign trail for her fashion choices, but what she did on inauguration night, blew us all away! She wore a then unknown designer by the name of Jason Wu and catapulted him into super star status overnight. She has always made wise choices in fashion, and also has taken risk that other First Women wouldn't dare all while maintaining class. Take for instance her one shoulder shirt that had everyone up in arms. I thought she looked FAB! She loves to look like the everyday woman by wearing accessible brands like J.Crew and Talbots, and she loves a kitten heel since she is already naturally tall. Anytime she is seen wearing anything from those lines,it sells out in record time. Florals are also a favorite of hers as well. She has the body of a real woman with curves, and has committed to good health as a positive example. Her classic standard looks are sheath dresses and skirts with embellished cardigans and also, pearl jewelry. Some of her most favorite designers include Azzedine Alaia, Takoon, L'Wren Scott, and Narcisco Rodriguez. There aren't enough positive things to say about her and what she has committed to changing in this country for the better. The fact that she has added major fiercness to an otherwise dull White House is an excellent reason to celebrate her as our Black History Spotlight today. Enjoy the pics!! LOVE!

Grammy's Fashion Wrap Up

Last night was my most FAVORITE awards show, the Grammys. Not only because I absolutely love music but the fashion is on another level. This is the night that all of the top people in music pull out all the stops. J-Lo and Amber Riley from Glee got my vote for best dressed of the night. Jennifer wore Pucci and I just lover her more and more each day. Kim K looked like a mix of a Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez mix, but the look worked for her in a gold sequins gown with a plunging neckline. She oozed sexiness. Nicki Minaj failed again but I think she likes people talking about her good or bad. Rihanna probably had the most talked about look in a Jean Paul Gautier dress that looked like cotton garland that was totally revealing. People wondered if she wore undergarments. Jennifer Hudson is still on a fierce streak in Versace. But please, don't loose anymore weight! More winners than losers last night, check who I loved!

Look of Day Taraji P. Henson

With the kick off of New York Fashion Week, all the celebs are in full swing in the big apple. At the BCBG MaxAzria show held yesterday,a bevy of celebrities were in attendance. Everyone from Kelly Rowland,Ashanti, and our focus for the day Taraji P. Henson. To me,she is like the girlfriend you never had. She seems mad cool and based off her Twitter game, she seems very down to earth. At any rate, she stood out to me in this FAB one shoulder, nude colored, floral dress that was everything to me when I seen it! It has the comfortable one shoulder draping that is trendy and sexy all at once. Then the bottom half is fitted to finish off the look. She rocked an also muted, natural colored open toe pump with the look. She looks effortlessly chic in this piece and I'm sure we will see more of her this New York Fashion Week as well.

Karl Kani- Black History Month Spotlight

As of today, we are all familiar with Sean John, Rocawear,Phat Farm, G-Unit, Akoo, and a host of other hip hop geared clothing lines. In continuing with my Black History spotlight, we must recognize who came before all of them, the blueprint if you will. His name is Carl Williams, and in 1989 he started Karl Kani. Carl hails from Brooklyn and is very much a self starter that seen a void in the way of menswear and quickly capitalized. With no formal training in tailoring, he had a vision of how black people wanted their clothes to fit. Noticing that people of the urban community did not like how typical jeans were cut, his signature style included lots of baggy jeans and bold colors that made us stand out while complementing our vast skin tones.
Carl went on to gain national popularity by appealing to hip hop celebrities like P Diddy, Redman, AZ ,Tupac, and Notorious B.I.G. All it takes is for your clothes to be mentioned in music to take your career to the next level. And next level, it definitely went.
Named the Godfather of Urban Fashion, in 1996 he was named on of the richest African Americans by Time magazine. Not bad at all! Today Carl is pretty much basking in his success from the hey day as the industry is over saturated with urban clothing lines. Just remember as you marvel at the urban looks of today, remember who started it all. His name is Carl and back in the day Karl Kani was an unstoppable force! This is your Black History fact for today.

Look of Day

With the 17th Annual SAG Awards taking place this past Sunday, its only right that today's look of the day come from the event. As usual, lots of actors and actresses sizzled. Some more than others but, this look here was my personal favorite of the night. Here is Jennifer Lawrence in a very vibrant Oscar De La Renta gown that not only demanded attention but held long after she was gone. The focal point is the striped sleeve but check out the split in that dress as well! The color kicked butt in a major way. Fierce times 10! The look was pulled together by an elegant black belt that was tied together with some stupid hot Roger Viver satin pumps. I don't have enough good stuff to say about this look. Jennie betta WERK! lol

Worlds First Black Super Model

In honor of Black History Month I am going to honor some of our trailblazers that paved the way in both fashion and modeling alike. Today, I'm shining the spotlight on the first black super model. When we think of these women Tyra, Beverly Johnson and Naomi comes to mind. Upon further research however, you will find there was a beautiful woman before all of them. Her name was Donyale Luna, and she was the first black woman to grace the cover of Vogue. Pretty awesome accomplishment in 1966 right! She was terribly beautiful and, could not go unseen standing 6'2 in height. Towards the end of her career she suffered turmoil at the hands of drug abuse that lead to her being plagiarized as a weirdo in the industry and she died in Italy in 1979. Although not the ending hoped for, her accomplishments still need to be recognized as the TRUE first black super model. Shine on Luna, shine on!
