Casino Couture Event

There is a very special event coming to Nashville titled Casino Couture that is to benefit the Mary Parrish Center,which is a great foundation targeted towards women and children affected by domestic violence. This event is being brought to us by the fabulous Little Black Dress Club.They are national recognized for their contribution to bringing women together all over the country,empowering us and bringing out the best in us. This event is going to include a silent auction, cocktails,appetizers,all of your favorite gambling games and lots more! This is an event that I highly recommend because it is an opportunity to give back to a great cause and to also pull out your favorite LBD and cut loose! This event takes place on Friday September 24Th at 8pm at the Gaylord Springs Club. The dress code for this event is partly an ode to the little black dress (LBD) that was made famous by Coco Chanel and was catapulted as a staple for any and all women by Audrey Hepburn back in the 60's. Also for the men, think Ratpack,Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis,those smooth guys who made wearing a suit look effortless.
In honor of this great event coming to our city, I wanted to address this staple and how some of my favorite celebrities have pulled off this look at all ages in hopes that it not only inspires you to find your perfect dress for this event but to also see how versatile this look is. My FAVORITE time of year

B far Fall is my most favorite season of them all. Partly because my birthday is in October but mostly because of the fashion. Its the time of year where its not too hot or cold and God blesses us with a happy medium. Colors change outside and the time comes to pack away the maxi dresses and sandals. Now what i see is that a lot of women struggle with this time of year by either holding on to the summer or going knee deep into winter way too soon. Most women group all the winter clothes into one block of the year when really Fall is a transitional period. The best way to not look out of place in fur boots in October is to make a smooth transition into the season.
You do this by incorporating cardigans in different cuts and colors as a staple piece of your wardrobe. Its goes without saying that this is no longer a look reserved for old women but can be worn by all ages. Find the right one for you. If you want to invest in one that will last for years to come,opt for a cashmere knit in a neutral color like black or nude. If you want to just make it through til its time to pull out the big guns, check out places like Express,Banana Republic and The Gap for sure fire winners. To add jazz to this look, add a skinny belt in a patent or croc material and top over almost any style jean with a little v-neck tee or crisps button up with slack for a professional look.
Also I know how women feel about their boots,they are right their next to the kids. With that being said,we take baby steps with these as well. Booties are huge right ow and I particularly love the open toe ones. People often get confused on how to wear these when it gets cool with out freezing their toes off. You do this by wearing tights with your boots in a variety of colors and patterns to keep the feet warm. Go to DSW, Nine West or Off Broadway for budget friendly boots. My favorite shoe designers are Steve Madden,Carlos Santana and Jessica Simpson,they always get it just right to me. In my world the whole outfit starts with the shoes so if you can tackle this, your headed in the right direction.
Winter will be here and we will be dreading it before you know it so take your time with the cowl neck wool sweaters,turtlenecks and suede pants til December January, you don't wanna already have grown tired of that stuff before its even time to officially wear it.

MBFW S/S 2011 Richie Rich

So Fashion Week is in full swing now people and Richie Rich kicked off the event with a fun colorful event much like the designers personalities.It was full of lots of punchy brights, high hemlines, and head turning very deliberate makeup. This season the designers focused on short full skirts,v-neck cuts, bows and ruffly accents in nudes, blue,purple and shades of pink. These designers typically design party looks but still managed to throw in some seriously fierce pieces that can easily convert from the club to a tea party outside with the fam just like that! Oh and to top it off one of my favorite celebs Ellen DeGeneres blessed the event with her normal humorous self! LOVE IT! Look of the Day

Drew Barrymore has just catapulted herself to the top of one of my favorite celebrities list. Reason being,she hit the red carpet for an Nylon Magazine/Express event in a $25,yep 2-5 dollar dress! Now we all know that Ms.Berrymore got it to spend but what does she do? Blend with the regulars...with the dress at least. Her YSL Tribute pumps cost a cool 760.00 bucks! The dress came from a thrift store and is super cool with a 60's feel with a psychedelic print with a sexy cutout back. Gorg!

To Wear Oxfords or NOT?!

Since this trend broke, I have been an avid advocate that I this one I would let slide. Now if you follow my blog you know how I feel about Rihanna as it relates to fashion. I love it. So when I seen my girl step out in some rhinestone covered Louboutin Oxfords it totally flipped what I thought about them. Leave it to the high end designer to totally work a trend that I was sooo sure I would never rock. Now I am not easily swayed but IF I ever wore an oxford,it would have to be this exact pair. HAUTE!!

My girl Rih-Rih whom is my fashion muse RARELY disappoints me or should i say her stylist doesn't. Here she is in a SUPER CUTE multi-colored one shoulder fitted jumper that looks soo fun and age appropriate. The gold link necklace add a bit of glam while the focal point is still the outfit itself. I FREAKIN LOVE this girl I gotta tell ya! Her confidence just radiates all the time which adds to her FIERCENESS! WERK Diva!!

Kids Choice Awards Fashion Recap

Last night was the family friendly Kids Choice awards. I particularly like these awards because its an excuse for all the teenage stars to get tastefully dolled up and shine like only they can. Of course Willow and Jaden were head turners with their trend setting style and swag. Love those kids!! Also KiKi Palmer kept her look colorful with a bubblegum-ish looking dress that only a kid should pull off. Selena Gomez picked the perfect shade of yellow to compliment her skin tone with staying on trend with the Grecian chiffon material and metallic belt.Rihanna was there with her shoulder pads in full effect with a natural colored belted look that was finished with one of this upcoming Fall hottest trends,socks with pumps. Your shaking you head now but watch how this thing takes off! Mark my word. Jermain Dupri also walked the carpet with his little mini me as well...too cute! There were lots of fun punches of color on the red carpet which was to be expected since Tyra Banks was probably the oldest person to walk it! Lots of miniature fierceness in the place!!

One of my favorite reality star and the most famous out of the family, Ms.Kardashian was a vision in this seasonally appropriate fruity colored bubble skirt with draping cowl neck silk top that looked really easy breezy and pulled together. The natural colored wide belt ties the whole look together adding a hint of structure to an otherwise casual look. She also dressed the look up with leopard print peep toe pumps that give you that extra twist in your walk. This girl came in the game as Ray J's stylist and certainly hasn't lost her sense of style now that she is on top and probably paying someone to style her now. Werk KIM!!! Fierce Diva!
