Kris'Ta Collection Fashion Show

So on last night I had the privilege of attending this great fashion show here in town. The designer is a hairstylist who has decided to try her hand at designing clothes and I' m soo glad she found her calling! If I told you that this lady had no formal training and is operating on pure blessings from God,you wouldn't believe me. The looks were current and fresh, the models were "real" sized and her talent goes beyond what one would expect.
She played with lots of colors and textures from leather to wool and shiny satins. Warm fall colors set the tone for the color palette using golds, reds, and browns as her focal. Her range went from office wear, to party dresses and also some formal looks. One of her standout pieces was a chocolate brown evening piece in a rich satin that had lots of volume and layers with quarter length sleeves and a stand up collar with a very sophisticated look in the front. But the back view was genius with an open back! GORG!
My favorite piece(I will be purchasing) was a satin almost knee length dress in a very easy breezy fabric with long balloon style sleeves in a floral print that spoke to me as SOON as I seen it. I think my heart may have skipped a beat.lol
Upon speaking with Kris'ta she advised me that she made the whole collection in one month!! Talk about not wasting time. The dress that the hostess wore was made in 30 minutes. So not only does her work go beyond what you think someone who isn't trained should be, she is also a very fast worker with a very humbling spirit.
All in all,it was a very well put together collection that I was honored to be able to attend. There was something for everyone from all ranges and body sizes. I can only pray that one of the local boutiques here picks up her line and she sails beyond the stars! God's hand is truly on her right now. Special shouts to the ladies of Seven Nashville for putting on a fabulous event! FIERCE!

Demi Moore makes 47 Look EASY!

LOS ANGELES, CA - OCTOBER 25: Actress Demi Moore arrives at Glamour Reel Moments celebrating Jessica Biel, Eva Mendes and Rachel Weisz directorial debuts at the Directors Guild of America on October 25, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)

Often the subject of much ridicule due to her fabulous figure and her ability to not look her age, Demi has seen her fair share of unfair press. I just wonder if she actually looked like "regular" 47 year old women would she be critiqued for not looking like 90% of Hollywood? Sounds like she cant win right? WRONG! One look at this pic and the fact that she goes home to the oh so sexy Ashton Kutcher every night, I'm sure the negative comments must roll off her shoulders like butter. At least they should. Not only is she Hollywood royalty, she has a slew of good deeds to be proud of, her physic is putting 20 somethings to SHAME! Now she has copped to having plastic surgery,(she wont say where, but excludes her face)she still gives me hope that I will never loose my fabulousness! This is a very smart look wit the long over short theory in full effect. This allows you to still feel young with the leggings and heels, but still keep an open flowy look with the sheer tunic and an adult feel with the blazer. This look easily goes from day to a night on the town with your girls, or dinner and a movie with your beau....Werk girl!

Look of the Day

Eva Mendes was the look of perfection at the Elle Reel Moments event that took place last week. She has always been one hot pepper on the red carpet but this A line cut that tapers longer in the back, in this gorgeous nude tone is perfect against her skin tone, and the rosey cheeks and lips warm up her face great. I like her use of the contrasting metallic pump to add a bit of glam to a very ladylike cut.

The Evolution...of Keyshia Cole

NEW YORK - OCTOBER 16: Recording artist Keyshia Cole attends 5th Annual Black Girls Rock! Awards at the Paradise Theater on October 16, 2010 in the Bronx borough of New York City. (Photo by Neilson Barnard/Getty Images)

When Keyshia Cole first stepped on the scene she was a round the way girl, with a chick from the hood look from the tattoos to the abstract blonde and red weave. Not to mention her in interviews, the rare in your face attitude that was sometimes thought of as rude and too rough. Over the years, she has slowly morphed into a much more softer and approachable person, and her fashion sense reflects that as well. Blame it on the new man and the baby? Or maybe it was the reality show that put her whole family life on blast? Either or, whatever it was,it looks good on her and I'm not mad at her stylist!
I took the liberty of going into the archives and digging up some old pics of her when she first hit the scene up until her at the Black Girls Rock event that took place a couple weeks ago, pictured above.... An evolution indeed!

The Rockin Pink Party Lookin Back

The ladies of the LBD Club had their party last night to raise awareness of breast cancer with all of the proceeds of the night going to Susan G. Koman. These ladies once again pulled off a great event with a great cause as always. There was a silent auction with great items like sports memorabilia, wine glass sets and great framed artwork of some of sports greats. There was dancing, which was the highlight of my night seeing an 87 year old woman go IN was totally inspiring! The night included a live band that sang a bevy of hits. Specialty drinks with a pink theme were flowing and I thoroughly enjoyed it as expected.
With the theme being pink and black, people wholeheartedly kept the theme in mind. One of my favorite looks was a polka dot,A-line belted dress that clearly stood out, A couple of men pulled out their salmon colored polos to keep up with the festive theme. Check out some of the auctioned items, people dancing and some of my fellow writers from the city at the event.
